HVAC Before & After in Atlanta, GA

Talk is cheap in this trade. Anyone can promise a quiet system or a cool upstairs. What actually matters is what changed between the first visit and the final walkthrough. On this page, we show the work itself: the equipment we replaced, the problems we found, and what the system looked like when we left. We’re still loading photos from the field, so most of these frames are placeholders for now. As our techs document each job, the gallery fills in. Check back to see real Atlanta homes the way our customers did: before, during, and after.

AC Repair: Failed Compressor in a 2009 Goodman Condenser

Before photo: aging Goodman condenser unit with failed compressor in an Atlanta backyard
Before: 2009 Goodman 3-ton condenser, compressor grounded, Atlanta heat index at 104°F the day we arrived.

The homeowner called at 6:50 a.m. on a Tuesday. The system had been running nonstop since Sunday night and the house was still 84 degrees. Our tech found the compressor grounded, not a capacitor or contactor issue. A compressor swap on a 16-year-old Goodman made no sense financially, so we presented a written price for a full condenser replacement that morning. By 4:00 p.m., the new unit was running and the house dropped to 72 in under three hours. The old unit photo will be posted alongside the new Carrier unit as soon as we pull it from the job file.

After photo: new Carrier condenser installed on a level composite pad in Atlanta
After: New Carrier 3-ton condenser, new pad, new whip, new line set insulation. Noise level dropped from a chattering 78 dB to 68 dB.

Furnace Repair: Cracked Heat Exchanger in a Trane XV80

Before photo: Trane XV80 furnace with cracked heat exchanger in an Atlanta crawlspace
Before: Trane XV80 with a hairline crack along the second bend of the heat exchanger, found during a maintenance inspection.

This one could have ended badly. The homeowner called for a standard tune-up, and our tech caught a cracked heat exchanger with a combustion analyzer reading that raised the carbon monoxide concern immediately. We shut the gas off at the unit and walked the customer through the finding, showing them the crack with an inspection camera. The furnace was 14 years old, and the heat exchanger was under a parts warranty, but the labor to swap it would have been more than half the cost of a new furnace. The customer chose furnace replacement. We quoted it that afternoon, installed it two days later, and left the crawlspace cleaner than we found it.

After photo: new Lennox furnace installed in an Atlanta crawlspace with sealed duct connections
After: New Lennox 80% two-stage furnace, new flue pipe, sealed return plenum, and a camera-scope video of the new heat exchanger for the customer’s records.

AC Maintenance: Clogged Indoor Coil on a Rheem, Buckhead

Before photo: heavily clogged indoor evaporator coil on a Rheem system in Atlanta
Before: Four years of dust, pet hair, and Atlanta pollen packed onto an indoor coil. Static pressure reading of 0.92″ WC, well above the 0.50″ spec.

This one’s a good reminder that maintenance catches problems before they become breakdowns. The homeowners said the system was “working fine, just not as cold as last year.” The coil was so loaded that the system was moving about 60% of the airflow it should, and the compressor was running hot. We pulled the coil, chemically cleaned it, cleared the drain line, and replaced the media filter. Final static pressure: 0.45″ WC. Supply air temp mid-vent went from 61°F to 52°F. The customer said it felt like a new air conditioner.

After: Same coil, after a full pull-and-clean. You can see daylight through the fins again.

AC Repair: Refrigerant Leak at a Braze Joint, Lennox System

Before photo: oil staining at a braze joint on a Lennox air conditioner line set in Atlanta
Before: Oil stain at the suction line braze joint, the telltale sign of a slow refrigerant leak. System was 3.2 lbs low on R-410A.

Slow leaks are the most annoying ones. The system would cool fine for a week, then gradually lose capacity until the customer called us again. Two prior companies recharged it and left. We don’t do that. Our tech isolated the leak with an electronic sniffer, confirmed with a nitrogen pressure test, and found the suspect joint at the air handler. We repaired the braze joint, pulled a deep vacuum to below 500 microns, and weighed in a factory-spec charge. The invoice listed both the before and after pressures and temperatures. The repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, and the system has held its charge through the rest of the summer.

After: Rebrazed joint, new filter drier, and a vacuum decay test printout stapled to the work order.

Furnace Repair: Failed Inducer Motor on a Carrier Infinity, Atlanta Winter

Before photo: failed inducer motor on a Carrier Infinity furnace in an Atlanta attic
Before: Inducer motor seized, bearing screaming, and the furnace locked out on a pressure switch error during a 22°F January cold snap.

I don’t like telling customers their furnace died on the coldest night of the year, but that’s how it goes. The call came in at 9:15 p.m. A live person answered, as always. Our tech arrived at 10:20 and confirmed the inducer had seized. We had the part on the truck, which doesn’t always happen but saves the night when it does. Replaced the motor, cleared the fault codes, and got the house back to 70 by midnight. This job is a good example of why we carry common failure parts instead of making every repair a two-visit ordeal. Written price before starting, written guarantee covering the part and labor for 365 days.

After photo: new inducer motor installed on a Carrier Infinity furnace in an Atlanta attic
After: New inducer motor, fault codes cleared, burner firing normally. The old motor is on the right for comparison.

AC Maintenance: Condenser Coil Restoration on a 2014 Lennox, Decatur

Before photo: condenser coil packed with cottonwood and lawn debris on a Lennox unit in Atlanta
Before: Condenser coil fins 40% blocked with cottonwood seed, grass clippings, and a full season of Atlanta oak pollen. Head pressure 410 PSIG on an 85°F day.

High head pressure is just the compressor working harder than it should, and it’s a direct path to a shorter compressor life. We pulled the top, split the coil if needed, and used a coil-safe cleaning solution and low-pressure rinse. The after photo will show a coil you can see through. Head pressure after clean: 330 PSIG, right where the manufacturer wants it for the outdoor temp that day. The customer also got a written report showing the before and after readings, not just a “looks clean now” note.

After photo: clean condenser coil on a Lennox unit in Atlanta
After: Same unit, same day. Airflow across the coil restored, compressor amp draw down 2.1 amps from the initial reading.
