A Lennox thermostat installation in Atlanta typically runs $180 – $400 installed, with the thermostat itself accounting for $90 – $250 of that and labor making up the rest. We stock Lennox-compatible thermostats on our trucks and can usually complete the swap same day, often within the same visit that confirmed the old one failed. Most Atlanta homeowners discover the problem when their Lennox system won’t respond to a temperature change, the display goes blank, or the HVAC short-cycles regardless of the setting. If you’re seeing any of that, the thermostat is the first thing to rule out before we start digging into the equipment itself.
Devin Marlowe has walked into plenty of Atlanta homes where the thermostat was blamed for a dead system and it turned out to be something else entirely, or the other way around. That’s why we diagnose before we replace. Know what’s wrong, know what it costs, know it’s covered – that’s the whole deal.
Which Lennox Models This Applies To
This covers the full range of Lennox residential thermostats: the iComfort series (S30, E30, M30), the ComfortSense series (3000, 5000, 7000, 7500), and older mechanical or basic digital models that predate the communicating systems. If you have an iComfort S30 or E30, there’s a compatibility gotcha worth knowing: those are communicating thermostats, which means they don’t use standard thermostat wiring. They run a proprietary digital signal over two or four wires to the Lennox furnace or air handler control board. You cannot drop a generic Honeywell or Ecobee in its place without rewiring and reconfiguring the equipment, and on some Lennox variable-speed systems, doing so actually disables the efficiency features you paid for.
The ComfortSense 5000 and 7000 are more forgiving. They’re conventional 24-volt thermostats that follow standard wiring, so a quality aftermarket unit from Honeywell, Emerson, or Ecobee will work if you’re fine leaving the Lennox ecosystem. We carry Lennox OEM replacements and quality aftermarket units, and we’ll tell you straight which one makes sense for your setup. Brandt HVAC Co Atlanta is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Lennox. That means we can install whatever fits your system and your budget, not just what the brand catalog says.

Signs Your Lennox Thermostat Installation Is Failing
- The display is blank or dim. On battery-powered Lennox units, this is often just dead batteries, but on hardwired units it can mean a failed thermostat or a tripped low-voltage fuse at the furnace board. We check the fuse before we sell you a thermostat.
- The system runs but won’t respond to temperature changes. The thermostat’s internal temperature sensor is drifting or the relay is stuck. You’ll feel the house get warmer or colder while the setting never changes what the equipment is doing.
- Short cycling. The system kicks on and off every few minutes. On Lennox units, this is frequently a thermostat calibration problem, but it can also be a failing anticipator on older mechanical models. Short cycling is hard on the compressor, so don’t let it ride.
- The temperature reading doesn’t match the room. You set it to 72, it says 72, but the room feels like 80. A drifted sensor or a thermostat mounted near a heat source – an Atlanta wall baking in afternoon sun, for instance – will do this.
- The system won’t switch between heating and cooling. The reversing valve relay inside the thermostat fails, and suddenly your heat pump won’t cool or your furnace won’t fire. It’s a $300 problem if it’s the thermostat. It’s a lot more if it’s the board at the unit.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s the honest breakdown for a Lennox thermostat replacement in Atlanta:
- Basic digital thermostat (OEM or equivalent): $90 – $150 for the part, $90 – $120 for installation – $180 – $270 total.
- Mid-range smart or programmable thermostat: $150 – $250 for the part, $100 – $140 for installation – $250 – $390 total.
- Lennox iComfort S30 or E30 replacement: $250 – $350 for the part, $110 – $150 for installation and system re-communication – $360 – $500 total.
Every job starts with a written price before any work begins. No surprises, no “while we were in there” add-ons. The installation includes wiring verification, mounting, configuration to match your Lennox system, and a written guarantee covering the work for 365 days. If the repair fails within that window, we return at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
DIY or Call Us?
I’ll give you the honest split. If you have a battery-powered ComfortSense that just needs fresh AA batteries, that’s a five-minute job you can do yourself. If you have a basic thermostat and you’re comfortable turning off the breaker, matching the wire labels, and mounting a new plate, that’s within reach for plenty of handy Atlanta homeowners. The risk comes with iComfort communicating systems and anything wired into a heat pump with auxiliary heat. Wiring a heat pump thermostat wrong can fry the control board, and suddenly your $200 thermostat project becomes an $800 repair. Low-voltage wiring on any system also carries a real electrocution risk at the furnace board if the breaker isn’t off.

FAQs
A Lennox thermostat typically lasts 10 – 15 years in Atlanta, though hot, humid summers and frequent cycling can wear out sensors and relays a few years sooner. If your unit is past 12 years old and acting up, replacement usually beats repair on cost.
Seldom. The internal relays and sensors aren’t field-serviceable on modern Lennox thermostats, so repair means replacement in most cases. The rare exception is a dirty contact or loose wire at the sub-base, which we can often fix in the same visit before recommending a new unit.
Most thermostat swaps take 30 – 60 minutes, including wiring verification and system configuration. A communicating iComfort replacement can run 60 – 90 minutes because the thermostat has to re-establish communication with the Lennox control board after power-up.
Yes, we keep a range of Lennox OEM and compatible smart thermostats on the truck, along with thermostats for Carrier and Trane systems. In most cases we can complete the replacement the same day, often on the first visit.
